We had a very busy weekend selling sweet corn. About 50 dozen at the Elizabeth Farmer's Market on Friday and 60 more dozen in Woodbine on Sunday! Lots more to come! Be sure to check our Facebook page for weekly updates! ![]() Friday was our first day at the Farmer's Market selling cinnamon rolls and lemonade! Great first day! See you next Friday. Yesterday the guys planted more pumpkins and gourds. This time with a retrofitted corn planter. Much faster - I heard...
We planted over 400 hills of pumpkins today - wow - what a big patch(es)! Thinking we may do things a little differently next year - live and learn! It was a beautiful day for a suntan(burn). We had lots of great help!
Yesterday, Mike and I tromped around looking over the pumpkin patch site! We also met with apple consultants (Bill and Jim from Kickapoo Orchard in Gays Mills, WI) to help us plan our planting of our first group of trees in about 3 weeks.
Then…a calf was stuck in the creek, Mike jumped in to save it, Rick pulled them out (calf first - then Mike), and the calf was tended to by Rick and David. Mike thawed out and so did the calf! We are beginning to see some green grass here in Northwest Illinois!
